GOAT
MILK SOAP &
Goat Milk Soap has long been a sought-after product with some wonderful properties, and there are many folks now manufacturing it commercially. Here are some sites where you can learn more about the amazing variety of products available! Tell them the folks at Khimaira sent you!!Most commercial soaps you find are "milled". In the opinion of many, this process is destructive to the quality of the product. It removes the skin softening agent present in all fats and oils, which is glycerin. Unmilled soap holds the glycerin in suspension and creates a hydrophilic nature (i.e. it draws water from the surrounding atmosphere). This is the property we want as we try to moisturize our skin and hair. Commercial companies mill their soaps because the glycerin needs to be removed if the soap is to be compatible with the machinery, which requires a hard, dry substance in order to operate. This allows for mass production, long shelf life, and re-selling of the glycerin. So, the natural glycerin that remains in hand made goat milk soap products is yet another great feature! |
