Looking down from hayloft:
There's plenty of room around the corner (to the right) but they all want to eat at the
same spot (as above!) We use 7-bar metal gates and rubber bunk feeders for feeding
hay in the pictures above, and a wooden "box" style feeder to the right.
Here's another type of hay feeder
arrangement using the 7-bar metal gates and the hard plastic style cattle bunk feeders.
The front is open to an aisle, where it is easy to toss in the hay. This
arrangement allows us to feed large numbers in a small space. The goats can reach to
the bottom of the bunk feeder and clean up the leaves without wasting hay. The gates
are held together with chain or with hinge pins. This makes it easy to set up and
take down quickly and provides a sturdy structure.
